Principal's Message

Welcome to Stone Creek Elementary! We are excited to offer our students a fresh and creative environment where their curiosity and drive can help them find success. We have 55 educators to serve our 440 students (Special Education Early Childhood through 5th grade). 2024-2025 will be our 5th year in the building and we plan to celebrate!

Beyond the general education classroom, students attend Music, PE, STEAM and Explore class. Students have 20 minutes for lunch, followed by a 20 minute recess. An additional 15 minute recess is scheduled opposite their daily specials class. Students may qualify for additional support in reading or math, based on diagnostic testing that is done throughout the school year. Additional special education services or 504 accommodations are arranged based on the individual’s plans.

A Little About Me

I graduated from Wichita State in 2000. I earned my Masters from Baker University in 2005 and completed superintendent licensure requirements through Pitt State University in 2023.

I have worked in the Derby district as a building principal since 2013. Prior to working in Derby, I was the building principal in USD 396 Douglass for five years. I have two boys, Treyton and Tate. They attended Derby schools and are now off to college, Friends University and Chadron State College, respectively. 

As a building leader, I enjoy working with staff members and parents to hear how we can improve our system. I believe that through shared partnerships, we can team up to help students meet their potential. I encourage you to come be a part of our school community by volunteering, joining PTO, collaborating on a strategic planning committee, or working within our district! 

During the school year, we will reach out about needs. Sometimes it’s as simple as sending in recyclables, while other times we need career presenters, judges, or field trip chaperones. It takes a small village to make all our lessons engaging, impactful, and complete!
